# Hooked Ontario

Hooked Ontario is Ontario's fishing field guide — written by local anglers for anglers. We publish weekly and monthly fishing reports, regional spot breakdowns, species guides, gear notes, and Ontario fishing rules so you can plan your next trip with current, location-specific advice.

Spot pages are our core reference: each one includes GPS coordinates, target species, best baits and techniques, access and parking notes, seasonal timing, and the Fisheries Management Zone (FMZ) it falls under.

Counts and terminology (one definition, used everywhere on the site):
- Fishing locations — every public water page at /waters/<slug>.
- Full fishing guides — locations with a full written guide (gear, access, seasonal tactics).
- Additional mapped waters — mapped locations with quick facts but no full guide.
The current totals are always in the `meta` block of the fishing-spots dataset below.

Public structured datasets (read-only JSON, free to use with attribution). Each file
carries a `meta` block with `dataset`, `description`, `schemaVersion`, `dataVersion`
(YYYY.MM.DD), `generatedAt` (build timestamp), `recordCount` and `canonicalUrl`, and a
`data` array of records:
- Fishing spots — current public fishing-location dataset (coordinates, region, FMZ, species, methods, seasons, access, parking)

For agents and crawlers: spot detail pages are machine-readable through the structured Place/TouristAttraction JSON-LD embedded in each page, including geo coordinates, target species, `areaServed` region, and access details. Every spot, species and region page also carries a visible plain-language facts table with the same values.
