Southern Ontario
Deep-summer patterns dominate. Smallmouth are on offshore rock and shoals in the Bay of Quinte, largemouth are buried in the thickest Kawartha weed and dock shade, and walleye have settled into 25–40 ft basins. On Lake Ontario the cold-water fishery sits well below the warm surface layer, making downriggers and dipsies essential through the month.
Current Fishing Tips
- •Drop-shot and tubes on deep Quinte rock once the sun climbs.
- •Slow-troll harnesses and deep cranks through suspended walleye schools.
- •Run spoons and meat rigs 60–100+ ft down for Lake Ontario kings and lakers.
